Sunday 18 July 2010 (Michael Bugeja - The Sunday Times of Malta)

Maltese metal band Loathe has been an integral part of the local scene for many years, during which time it has been regularly serving up its jagged slabs of hardcore riffs and abrasive vocals not only on the local live circuit, but also various venues all over the UK, thanks to which the band has also achieved a certain familiarity at an international level.

With three acclaimed EPs to its name, Loathe, now signed to Casket Records, will be releasing its debut album, Despondent By Design with a live performance at the Black Pearl this Friday to mark the occasion. Having amassed considerable onstage experience thanks to their performances alongside significant metal acts such as Evile, Detonation, Sabbat, Let ‘Em Burn, Slab and Seven Years Dead, the band will be putting its full weight into the upcoming performance to make the occasion even more memorable.

The gig will also kick off the countdown for the band’s upcoming performance at the legendary 3-day Bridgefest Festival in London’s Canning Town alongside Morgue Orgy and death metal titans Trigger The Bloodshed. To promote the album further, Loathe are also planning to tour the UK later this year with the possibility of a European tour after that.
