Sunday 29 March 2009 (Michael Bugeja - The Sunday Times of Malta)

There’s one thing local extreme metal act Loathe can do very well, and that’s stirring up a moshpit. They rocked the joint with their performance at the Pre-Valentine Massacre last month, and as their latest electronic missive indicates, they’re fine-tuning their songs to do it all over (and over, and over) again in April. In fact, Loathe will be performing at Poxx Bar on April 4, the second night of a two-day tribute concert featuring several bands that will be performing in memory of musician Jade Brincat, a familiar face on the local underground scene, who passed away last November. After that, Loathe will be teaming up with Item and UK band Slab for a fully-charged night of metal mayhem down at Poxx Bar on April 17, with Slab giving a repeat performance alongside Cypher and Insurgence the following night at Remedy. Meanwhile, the band has been busy preparing for its upcoming recording sessions in June, when they will enter Temple Studios once again, only this time, the end result won’t be an EP but Loathe’s first full-length album. The finished product - still untitled as I write - is scheduled for release later this year, but Loathe hope to play a few live gigs during the summer and then head back to the UK for another tour come November.
