The Dream is Dead was the name of Knockturn Alley’s debut EP back in 2006. A couple of line-up changes, performances abroad and a re-think of their musical direction however, is evidence enough that on the contrary, the dream is in fact very much alive. The hardcore metal act has been busy toiling away in the studio working on its first full-length album release – scheduled for release later this year - which according to their online blog, is going like a dream. Rumour has it that the new material blends their solid riff backbone with a progressive approach, and while no new material has been uploaded onto their MySpace site just yet, Knockturn Alley will most likely include most of their new songs during their live performance at tomorrow night’s Pre-Valentine Massacre at Remedy. The gig will also feature performances from fellow hardcore acts Cypher and Loathe, the latter having recently returned form a successful UK tour and currently also working on their debut album. The five-piece band is renowned for its frenetic live shows, fuelled by a closeknit metal assault and a fresh approach that have endeared them to many metal fans both on the island and abroad, particularly in the UK. The three-band line-up makes this gig a must-see for all metal fans. Doors open at 9pm.
