Glenn Sacco

Glenn Sacco born on 27 August, 1986 he comes from St Julian’s. He is a Guitarist and today lives at Mosta.

His journey started with the guitar whilst listening to his mother playing, he showed a real interest in the guitar and his mother bought him his first guitar at the age of 13 and booked him some professional lessons, however he always wanted to play the drums.

At the age of 15 Glenn started jamming sessions and formed his own band, during the week he used to start jamming with older guitarists to gain more valuable experience, He feel very passionate about the different genres of music he play and what he play comes from within.

Glenn Sacco playing the sitar

After playing the guitar Glenn decided to purchase an Indian sitar through his friendToni Curmi and when it arrived he was overwhelmed how different this looked in comparison to the guitar and how difficult it was to hold and play, he played for 3 to 4 hours daily and was given some valuable tips along the way by Toni Curmi.

The sitar has the most unique and wonderful sound and whilst playing this beautiful instrument it captivates him and takes hom to other places he have never been before, he have also fallen in love with the Indian culture and find it very spiritual and relaxing.

He have met a lot of Indian sitarists online through social media websites who are in constant contact with him and follow his progress.

In 2016 Glenn played at the Earth Garden Festival of music which was always his ambition for him and his friend Kurt Scerri the percussionist / Drummer are working on other music projects.

The sitar is not a well known instrument and although its not commercial he would like people to know and understand how beautiful the sitar is, Glenn want to continue playing the instrument he love and enjoy so much.

A sitar can have 18, 19, 20, or 21 strings. Six or seven of these are played strings which run over curved, raised frets, and the remainder are sympathetic strings (tarb, also known as taarif or tarafdaar) which run underneath the frets and resonate in sympathy with the played strings. The frets are movable, allowing fine tuning.
