David Cauchi

David Cauchi is a Maltese singer, musician and songwriter born on 10 February 1980. Coming from a music family, exposure to music was only natural. His mum Doris Curmi was a renowned local singer in the past like her sister Carmen Curmi. The Curmi name is synonymous with music in Malta. Paul Curmi the founder of a famous local folklore group the Paul Curmi Dancers, was in fact mum's uncle.

David's exposure to music was so contagious that he started taking piano lessons at the age of 6. He obtained a diploma in pianoforte and theory from the London College of Music at the age of 20.

There was always a desire to apply his music knowledge into something more contemporary. He started to collaborate with different singers and musicians initially performing in charitable or similar events and weddings. This was the time where David started to combine more and more piano playing and singing, firstly as a backing vocal and then as main singer.

Having been involved in different music projects with other local and foreign musicians, David learned to appreciate and experiment different music styles apart from those including blues, reggae and jazz. Recently he also started to play guitar as a second instrument. This gives him versatility both when performing or composing music.

David has been working on some original material which will be launched in 2017, together with two music videos produced by Imitosis Media and Anomaly. The songs were arranged, recorded, produced and mastered by fellow guitarists Joshua Bray and Kurt Aquilina.

Apart from his own projects as sole artist, David also forms part of pop rock act called Dbanned.
