Alexander Rybak (born 13 May 1986, Minsk, Belarus) is a singer, musician and composer best known for winning Eurovision Song Contest 2009, with a record 387 points, singing Fairytale, a song inspired by Norwegian folk music.
When he was five years old, his little family of three moved to Norway and settled at Nesodden, a short ferry trip from Oslo. His parents, Natalia and Igor, are both professionally trained musicians and teaching their son the violin and piano was the most natural thing in the world.
In 2014 Rybak wrote the song Still Here for Maltese singer Franklin Calleja to participate in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2015. It was shortlisted with the 48 songs in the preliminary round and progressed to the top 20 for the semi-final.
