Val Valente born in Valletta, Malta on 1939. he’s real name was Valerio son of Professior Giorlando Valente a great vjolinist and Stella.

Val father has a resident band at the Union Club in Sliema, The Chalet at Għar id-Dud, Queen’Hall, in Sliema and Rockyvale in St Julian’s, later he was offer a good contract by Bonaci to played with his band at Cafe Premier where he spend several years.

In the 1950’s when he was foutheen year old. His father was a leading violinist and Val Valente himself was popular with his own big band, performing at Pjazza Regina, Valletta, with his father and his band, as well as many other leading venues around Malta. At one point, he also had his own show on Rediffusion, the popular cable radio service in Malta, back in the 1960s.

His father got an idea an as a family he begin to bring in Malta famous Italian Singers to sing with his band, it was a great idea and people where always there in full to see big Italian popolar singers like, Tony Dallara, Claudio Villa, Nilla Pizzi, Giacomo Rondinella and Luciano Rondinella, Aurelio Fierro, Quatetto Cetra, Sergio Bruni, Nunzio Gallo and many others.

After some years Val had his own jazz quintet called The Freshmen, which featured pianist Frank Bibi Camilleri, bass player Nonny Almerigo drummer Eric Xuereb and crooner Tarċisio Tossie Tabone, Their debut was at Rendezvous Des Amis, a new club in Paola.

Was President too of the Musicians And Entertainers Union of Malta for twenty years. The veteran and seasoned saxophonist, Valerio Valente remained popular even with the new generation of jazz musicians, and performed with the Big Band Brothers at the MCC concert in 2011. Val Valente had already set up an appointment with President George Abela as he wanted the concert to be held in aid of the Community Chest Fund.

Valerio Valente was also featured in the Bank of Valletta Calendar for 2012. For that year, this calendar’s theme centered around eminent Valletta musicians, like Bibi Camilleri, Joe Cutajar, and Puse` Curmi among others.

During his Careree Val Valent played nine different Instruments beside he singing as well as a great entertainer.

He passed away on 9 February at the age of 74.
