Thea Gauci

Thea Gauci was born on the 8th of November 2002 and lives in the beautiful locality of Mellieħa. Thea has recently embarked on her academic journey within the University of Malta, studying for a Degree in the Bachelor of Commerce.

Her musical career started in 2007 with the Soċjeta Filarmonica La Vittoria A.D. 1907 choir within her local community. At the age of seven, Thea started attending singing lessons under the direction of Geordie Debono and she immediately shown the interest to further her studies in the musical sector.

Throughout these 11 years, Thea has taken part in various festivals organised both locally and internationally. This active participation in such festivals resulted in her winning several awards including a majority of 1st and 2nd place awards in combination with an Overall Grand Prix Award in 2013. Up till now, the highlights of her musical career include winning the Konkors Melodija Maġika festival in 2015 with an original Maltese song written by Ingrid Vella and composed by Augusto Cardinali, and during the same year she performed at the Mediterranean Conference Centre as one of the finalists to be chosen for the San Remo Junior Malta and San Remo Junior Festival held in Italy. In 2016, Thea was a finalist on the local television show known as The Entertainers, where she competed in The Entertainers Singing Challenge.

In addition to these events, in 2018 Thea also qualified to the final of L-Għanja tal-Poplu – Żgħażagħ 2018 with two original Maltese songs, Ħmistax and Għerf il-Baħar.

Thea also had the unique opportunity to participate in international festivals in Germany and Sicily. In 2013 she took part in the EuroPop Contest in Berlin and in 2015 she performed and placed 5th in the Oltreoceano Festival that took place in Montreal. Following her performance in Sicily, she was chosen to be part of a Michael Jackson Tribute Concert where she interpreted the song Man in the Mirror.

Moreover, during the past five years Thea has started taking piano and saxophone lessons. She has shown her motivational and enthusiastic qualities through the brilliant results achieved in all the exams she has undertaken.

Thea’s singing career has taken a step further as she teamed up with a local guitarist to perform multiple gigs in well known establishments throughout the island. The pair has a vast repertoire ranging from classic to contemporary hits, with which they have always received positive feedback with regards to their ability to interact with, and engage the audience in their performance.

Thea has now been chosen as one of the finalists of the L-Għanja tal-Poplu 2021. She will be performing the song Kunċert Impromptu as a duet with Nedved Galea. A song penned by Rita Pace and composed by Mark Cachia. Thea is looking forward to this new journey ahead, and aims to make the most out of this unforgettable experience.
