Getting started with this working list

Thank you Steve for gathering the initial list of vinyl releases in Malta! I've now pasted the first part of your table on this page. The rest of your list needs to be formated into a table so that the entries are sortable. You'll also observe that there are a number of blank rows, which I can understand that you did this in your original Word document to create some sort of spacing between different labels. I'd say that these need to be removed. You can try doing this yourself, or I can do it myself - whichever you prefer. --Toni Sant (talk) 13:37, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

I am continuing with the formatting of the list and hope to finish it within two days to get it done and move on. I am removing the spacing. I notice that the title is vinyl records from Malta. I have some five 45rpms that I have omitted, that are not in Maltese or in any way linked to folk. Yet they are sung by Maltese singers and are original compositions. Shall I include them? --Steve Borg (talk) 21:44, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
I've been thinking about the title and contents of this page in line with your excellent question. I think this page should be an index page for further pages on the subject. Aside from having a separate page (because ideally we shouldn't have too much content on one entry for easier navigation and data management) for records that are not from Malta in the sense of label or release set-up, we should also have separate pages for 45s and 33s, as well as records on vinyl sung in Maltese and Maltese vinyl sung in English and even other languages, as there are some in Italian and even German, I believe -- unless we simply include language as a sortable column since there aren't really that many in English and other languages), and a separate page for vinyl records by Maltese based overseas. This may be beyond the initial scope of the work you're doing Steve, however, it is certainly the way M3P needs to plan and build towards a more complete listing of vinyl releases of interest to the entirety of the project. To be practical, I can start by turning this page into a working list index with an appropriate introductory text, and move the 45 rpm table to a separate page called 45 rpm Vinyl Records from Malta (unless you think it should have a different name), which should also eventually contain an overview paragraph or two about what's in the table and where other related entries may be, if not a simple link back to this page. --Toni Sant (talk) 08:59, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Suggestion for extra columns

Would it be a good idea to add a column for duration or time aside from the column for notes? I would also suggest having an extra column for language so that it's easy to sort/distinguish between records in Maltese and those in other languages. --Toni Sant (talk) 10:30, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Further contributions to this list

During my visit to Australia in January 2013 I met User:Joe Axiaq who has an extensive personal collection of vinyl records from Malta. He was very pleased to discover this page and I have urged him to collaborate and contribute wherever possible. --Toni Sant (talk) 01:47, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

Thank you Toni for this wonderful project and thank you to Steve for the great idea of starting such a list. I'm happy to collaborate as best as I can.--Joe Axiaq (talk) 01:57, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
