Salvu Darmanin Ir-Ruġel

Salvu Darmanin Ir-Ruġel.

was one of the most prominent folksingers in the post-war period. Born in Żabbar on the 31st March 1905, he was considered as one of the more educated għannejja, his occupation being a building contractor. He has been referred to by many established folksingers, including Salvu Pace s-Sulari as one of the ablest in improvising stanzas.

His voice has been recorded on open reel, but it is not easily accessible on social media. He is the uncle of Fredu Abela l-Bamboċċu. Darmanin passed away on the 17th September 1976.
