I wish that more people in the world would realise the importance of creativity, art and culture in contemporary society. I wish that the educational system in Malta and all over the world will have more classes focusing on creativity and art. Romina Delia [1]


Education

  • 2011-2015: Full time PhD research at the School of Museum Studies, University of Leicester, UK. The research focused on contemporary immersive performances in historic sites:
- Winner of the College of Arts, Humanities and Law, Postgraduate Fund 2014/15
- Winner of the College of Arts, Humanities and Law, Postgraduate Fund 2013/14
- Winner of the College of Arts, Humanities and Law, Postgraduate Fund 2012/13
  • 2006-2008 Masters in History of Art, University of Malta. The research for the dissertation focused on the history of Art Collecting;
  • 2002-2005; B.A. (Hons) History of Art, University of Malta and the Universita degli Studi di Verona, Italy.

Academic/ Career Achievements

  • 2016: Internationalisation Associate at Arts Council Malta;
  • 2015-2016: Visiting Lecturer, University of Malta;
  • 2011-2014: Teaching Assistant with the University of Leicester MA in Museum Studies;
  • 2014: Presenter at the Performance Studies International Conference held at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, China;
  • 2013-2014: Co-curator of the exhibition "Museum Metamorphosis" - Exhibition displayed at the School of Museum Studies, University of Leicester;
  • 2012-2013: Co-organiser of the PhD led International Conference: Museum Metamorphosis: the Adaptable and Changing Museum" - Held at the School of Museum Studies, University of Leicester, in collaboration with New Walk Museum & Art Gallery, on the 5- 6 November, 2013. The conference was funded by the AHRC through a Student-Led Collaborative Skills Award on the theme of partnership working including public engagement. Ashgate publishers also kindly contributed to the opening reception;
  • 2013: Researcher at New Walk Museum & Art Gallery, Leicester, UK. Conducting research for the German Expressionist Collection which has recently been awarded a grant to revamp its whole display;
  • 2010-2015: ICOM- Malta Executive Committee Member;
  • 2010-2012 Researcher for the EU funded project entitled "EUNAMUS. European National Museums: Identity Politics, the Uses of the Past and the European Citizen". The work involved research and publications on the History of National Museums [2]; As part of the project I also presented and participated in the following conferences: "Building National Museums in Europe 1750-2010" held in Bologna, Italy in March 30 – April 1, 2011 and "Mapping and Framing National Museums 1750-2010" held in Stockholm, Sweden in April 28-30, 2010;
  • 2009-2011: Researcher at the Malta National Museum of Fine Arts;
  • 2009-2010: Researcher for the EU funded Project SMARTMUSEUM[3];
  • 2007-2008: Researcher for the EU funded Project entitled MERCATOR at the Malta Maritime Museum;
  • 2005-2006: Researcher for the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage, Malta;
  • 2005- 2008: Researcher and Curatorial Assistant at the Historic House Museum Casa Rocca Piccola in Valletta.
