Clean-up Needed

The text currently on this page needs further work. It was most likely imported or reproduced from a website associated with the subject of the page - possibly through a process involving far-from-perfect machine translation, often with awkward results. It is awaiting the attention of an experienced M3P editor, which could be you. It may be slightly out of date, or may need other elements taken care of appropriately, including proofreading or copy-editing for grammar and style.

Rising Sun

The Rising Sun spiritual animation group was founded in 2003. This is a non-governmental and voluntary group. The group has about twenty members, these include; singers, guitarists, a drummer and others who can play other instruments. We also have dancing and miming in special occasions. Ages of members vary between eight and seventy eight. The group coordinator is Ms. Roberta Attard, who with great dedication coordinates rehearsals for spiritual animation activities for Masses and other special occasions.

This group animates most of the Masses held during the weekend and religious holidays throughout the year in Qawra Parish Church. Two of the masses that we usually animate during the weekend are; the Sunday mass at 11am and the Sunday mass at 18.30. Besides the above mentioned Masses the group participates in other special occasions like Christmas concerts, concerts held during the summer, Wedding Masses, funeral Masses, christening, confirmations etc.. at Qawra Parish Church, other parishes and at residential homes for the elderly.

Some of our memorable occasions are a Mass held at the President’s Palace, giving spiritual animation services at various Catholic Charismatic prayer groups, confirmations at other parish churches and spiritual animation activities on occasions such as when the Archbishop of Malta or the bishop of Gozo pay an official visit to several parishes. The group carries out its mission that of giving visibly more life to liturgical services. This is an efficient way of attracting more people especially youngsters to the Catholic Church.
