Mro. Reno Busuttil

Mro Reno Busuttil born in Ħal-Għaxaq on the 10th of November 1964, started studying music at a very young age. First he studied the Eb Clarinet under the tuition of his father, and then the Bb Clarinet at the Għaqda Mużikali San Ġużepp (Ħal Għaxaq). From that band club he started to acquire many musical skills untill he became a musician with many band clubs across Malta and Gozo.

As years passed, he continued to delve deeper into music by following lessons led by the well known clarinettist Professor Freddie Mizzi. Thanks to Professor Mizzi, Mro Busuttil widened his musical repertoire from classical music to styles like jazz and swing.

Mro. Reno Busuttil

Mro Busuttil is the musical director of Soċjeta Mużikali Każin Banda San Pio X Lija A.D. 1905 the musical director of Għaqda Mużikali San Ġużepp, Għaxaq and assistant band director at the Soċjeta Filarmonika Fra Antoine De Paule Banda Kristu Re Paola. Besides this, throughout the years he was also also a guest musician of the Malta Police Band and also one of the founders of a clarinet quartet called the 4th system quartet. Mro Reno Busuttil also had a musical group called Spring Melodies which performed in various events.

Besides being a musician and conductor, he is also the composer of various festive marches, funeral marches, hymns and concert pieces.

Mro Reno Busuttil is married to his wife Sandra, father to Roxanne and Martin, and grandad of Zven and Ella.

Recently, Mro Reno Busuttil acquired the Diploma in Wind Band Studies from the University of Malta after attending a two-year studying-course organised by the Malta Band Clubs Association and the University of Malta. Moreover, currently he is also following more diploma courses both in theory and practice.

All in all, Mro Reno Busuttil is well renewed for being a dedicated teacher which helped and is still helping a large amount of students in to getting more closer to the amazing world of music.
