Rebecca Bilocca

Rebecca Bilocca, from il-Gudja, was born on 15 June 1999. She comes from a musical family and her grandfather Mro Joseph Mary Bilocca was Music Conductor with various local bands.

From an early age she started showing interest in music and theatre performance.

She started taking drama lessons with Freespirit Acting under the direction of two known Maltese actors Kurt Castillo and Rachel Micallef. Although she loved theatre and performance she always showed a greater passion for singing.

At the age of 7, she started attending the parish choir AssumptaEst under the direction of Mro.Stefan Caruana.

At the age of 10, she decided to start taking lessons as a soloist with the Soprano Ms.Rosabelle Bianchi at the School of Arts, Valletta. At the moment her vocal coach is Mrs.Graziella Debattista Briffa.

As she developed more in her talent she started to take part in local festivals. She came third in Kantanti Bravi Maltin and was also given the title as Best New Comer. She also competed in other local festivals. She was also part of children's Animae Gospel Choir.

At the age of 13, she decided to start studying the theory of music so that she can broaden more her knowledge on this subject. She is now in Grade 3.

From 2014 she started to take part as a soloist, where her grandfather sang hymns written by Mro. Joseph Mary Bilocca with the band 'Maria Assunta' of Gudja under the direction of Mro Herman Farrugia Frantz.

Currently Rebecca is learn music theory and reach the third year.

Now she is taking part in Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza and she is one of the 10 semi finalists in the New Talent Section Talent Ġdid. The song is called Sabiħ, the composer of the song is Chan Vella and the author is Rita Pace.

She is now still studying music and singing on a professional level, as well as planning other musical related things and events which will be official in the coming future.

On 18 September, 2018 Rebecca taken part in Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza 2018 with the song Xemx, Qamar, Riħ lyrics by Kevin Tanti and music by Chan Vella.
