Raymond Gatt Il-Bastjaniż is an improvised verse folk singer. Born in the San Bastjan parish of Qormi, hence his nickname, on the 17th November 1955, he emigrated to Melbourne Australia. In Australia he has folksung in the main għana locations including Ir-Rampa,the Albion Club and the premises of Ġorġ Aquilina ż-Żgħir, with Salvu Brincat Il-Ħajbru, Salvu l-Kampanjol, Fredu l-Fra and veteran Gozitan folk singer Ġanni Ras il-Bagħal.
Around 2001 he folksung with the noted Salvu Galea Tal-Kalora, in honour of folk music promoter Ġorġ Ebejer Il-Giża.
