Mro. Francesco Xuereb

Mro. Francesco Xuereb was born in Rabat, Malta by Joseph and Ursula nee’ Dimech year 1853. The Xuereb family was thoroughly familiar Proto Parish of St. Paul and the Archconfraternity. Sacrament, so that his brother, the Canon collegiate Peter Paul Xuereb was Procurator of those Archconfraternity between 1870-1872 and 1876-1878.

Francis began to learn music under the Mro. Epifanio Agius and has found its sixteenth year as a band musician and also one of the founders of the band club. The work was its own as a painter.

Of twenty-five years reached musical director of the band club which lasted until 1902. From the journals of that time we read that Francis was very sympathetic and capable man and Band made great progress under his hands. In his times the band was also ringing in the Good Friday and started to become the National Holiday to the club too.

As his few compositions find anything except some arrangements of some sacred music including O Salutaris Hostia 'for Proto Parish of Saint Paul in Rabat.

When Francis grew in age residing in the home of the elderly Saura where he died on 13 July 1926. Buried in the parish of St. Paul in the tomb number 56 in karniera.
