Mro. Filippo Galea

Mro. Filippo Galea was born in Ħaż-Żebbuġ on 31 December, 1829, by Mro. Anġelo Galea and Maria Galea nee’ Cilia. He baptized the next day in the parish of St. Philip into Żebbuġ]]. Filippo trained in music from his childhood in the care of his father Angelo, then continued at Mro. Ġiovanni Le Brun, who was the director of the Opera Theater Orchestra. Galea ringing teaches violin, clarinet and pjanuforte. Progress in the boy appeared at first, he soon became a violinist in fact the best. In the archive of St. Philip Band Club Association houses the funerary march Largo to Mro. Filippo Galea written in 1853. Micheleangelo Debonoand Rev Salvatore Filippo Scerri Ciappara and the Procurator Parish Church along with other benefactors came to money bought fifteen new musical instruments for the musicians of the same Banda di San Filippo. This is a document that shows the progress he was making this band by teaching music and music services.

When his father Angelo has had twelve years with the military band conductor was introduced Filippo in 88 th regiment as a boy.
