Moira Zahra

Moira Zahra is a Edinburgh-based freelance illustrator / graphic designer with a background in Creative Higher Education.

My visual style is quite versatile, but it often involves characters and patterns. My work is partially inspired by classic fashion illustration but with a playful, witty and contemporary approach. I also illustrate for children's books and I've co-authored my first children's book last year which has been shortlisted at the Malta National Book Prize, 2018. I'm influenced by people and culture mostly, through the observation of everyday life with a sketchbook in hand and a healthy amount of people-watching.[1]'

  • 2018: 'Mama, allura din Imhabba?" (Co-authored with Mark Scicluna) shortlisted at the Malta National Book Prize 2018;

  • 2018: One of six Petit Bateau 100 ans competition winners - 'Culotte' Illustration selected from more than 14,500 Entries (2018) and now for sale at Petit Bateau;
  • 2017: Selected Artist for the Malta Creative Europe Desk Promotional Strategy;
  • 2017: Online Coordinator of 'Politicks' Card Game Designed by Prof.Gordon Pace, Illustrated by Mark Scicluna. The game was awarded second place at the 'Malta Innovation Awards';
  • 2015: Concept Artist and 2D Animator for "Ephemeral" awarded Most Unusual Game at the Malta Game Jam.
