Mikhail Attard

Mikhail Attard born on 17 May, 1996, he comes from Buġibba. He is an Actor and Singer.

‘Music is my escape from my surroundings and I can’t go a day without listening to music’. ‘It was 10 years ago when I started my singing career. Music is my passion, music expresses my feelings. Singing forms my identity at a whole. In one phrase Music is what I was born to do’.

‘I have been receiving voice training for as long as I can remember, under the tutelage of various singing teachers, working on anything from genres that suit my voice, to technique, and posture whilst performing. I also play the piano and guitar (grade 6). I like to compose music especially when I am alone and in my free time. I play in weddings, masses and receptions’.

Apart from singing, piano and guitar Mikhail also study drama. In 2016 he was part in a musical drama named D.R.E.A.M.S with Jeremy being the character interpreted. Currently, he taking part in another drama called ‘Ħbieb u Għedewwa’ with Jean being the character interpreted.

In July 2013 he was chosen to take part in the Italian festival Microfono D’oro 21 Edizione which he placed 1st in the opening of the festival and 2nd in the actual festival and also won the best composing award of the music composed by Geordie Debono. It was my first opportunity and experience singing abroad.

He was also part of Ġensna’s choir. It was a memorable experience which he will never forget. Mikhail had the opportunity to sing a duo with Neville Refalo on 2013 on a TV programme called ‘Entertain me’ which was a festival that he won the 1st place award. It was on F Living in 2013.

He would cite 2013 as a year of highlights, having been chosen to participate in the ‘Microfono D’Oro Festival’, finishing in 1st place in the pre-show, and eventually 2nd in the gala night, whilst his original composition by Geordie DeBono was also given 1st place. Later on that year, heI reached the final of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza, performing in a duet with my cousin, Simaria Galea. The song “Li Jien Illum”, composed by Elton Zarb to the lyrics of Natasha Turner was well loved by the public at home, finishing in 2nd place in tele-voting.

In 2014, he competed in two competitions held in Italy, first in the Mascalucia Festival Della Canzone and then in Categiro. Most recently, I also took part in ‘Una Stella Sta Nascendo’, where he also reached the final stage. Along with Cherylis Camilleri, he has recently started a project, a duet aptly called Dwett.

In 2016, he reached the final round of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza 2016 with three (3) songs, two (2) as part of “Dwett” and one (1) as a soloist. Due to the fact that you may only opt to perform one song during the actual competition, that being the one which obtained the most points as allocated by the jury, he had to drop the solo song, and also one of the songs which he had as “Dwett”.

On 19 September, 2019 Mikhail was one of the finalist of the 27 Edition of Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza 2019 held at Pieta near Dar Ċentrali with the song 'Labgħat man-Nar' lyrics by his sister Emil Calleja Bayliss and music by Chan Vella.
