Justin Meli of May We Ask You All For Silence
May We Ask You All For Silence - Live at Remedy

May We Ask You All For Silence (aka mwayafs) is an experimental Maltese act consisting of Justin Meli & Christopher Buhagiar. Their music spans various genres, from Dark Ambient, Drone Metal and Ritualistic Ambient to Noise, Industrial and Post Metal.

History

The name May We Ask You All For Silence comes from the Coil track, The Dreamer is still asleep off the album Musick To Play In The Dark. They chose this name as an homage to this band, which they rate amongst their primary influences, and for another reason, this being the current wave of censorship wave prominent in Malta at the time. (Justin Meli had a face to face experience with this).

Releases

Their debut EP Lucid Dream, which was available as a free download from Pinkpube consists of 4 tracks structured around ethereal soundscapes, drifting guitars and theremin screams.

Gigs

May We Ask You All For Silence played a live gig at the Remedy Club in Paceville, and performed at the launch of Antipodi, a book by Alex Vella Gera, in which they infused adapted narrations from the book into their music. The duo has also played a few intimate gigs for selected audiences. Their live set-up includes bass guitar, guitar, vintage synths, theremin and huge pedal boards full of stomp boxes.

Aim

The duo's aim is not geared towards gaining popularity, but rather to continue to perform in non-conventional spaces suuch as exhibitions and other art installations, and eventually release more music.
