Mattei Curmi

Mattei Curmi was born on 24 July, 1995 at St Luke’s Hospital Pietà and lives in Mellieħa. He is a singer and artist from Malta.

He started his musical career as from an early age. Mattei, first started dancing and taking professional training for about 11 years. He won several competitions in Malta and also won a competition that lead him to represent Malta in Tunisia back in 2004.

Later on from the age of 10 he started also taking vocal training under Priscilla Psaila 'Kaya'. Mattei has many experience with festivals and musicals. Although the biggest would be in 2007, when he was a finalist in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007, together with 5 more members forming a group of young singers.

They also placed 3rd! From than he also took part in the juniors Għanja tal-Poplu, L-Għaqda Melodija were he placed 1st and was also a semi-finalist in Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza 2010 in the Talent Ġdid section. This year once again Mattei is also a semi-finalist in the Talent Stabbilit section.

Mattei took part in many musicals including, San Leonardo, were he had the main part, Ġorġi Fjur Tal-Martri, Jesus Christ Superstar, El Mellaħa and Imħabba Fuq il-Għolja.

Later on Imħabba Fuq il-Għolja was filmed and aired in the Maltese Cinemas were again, Mattei was also part of this film/musical. Mattei wishes to participate in many more festivals and opportunities that will come his way in the upcoming years, to build a stronger personality, and also get more promotion to be a successful artist.

In September 2014 he participated and finished among the finalists in the final night of Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza - 2014 with the song Nemmen Fil-Futur lyrics by Cher Vella and music by Philip Vella
