Matina is the stage name of Maltese singer Martina Borg was born 23 August 1992, who has also released material as MarTina.

Lives at Valletta the Capital City Of Malta, a small beautiful island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.

Coming from a musical background, it was natural for her as a young girl to take up piano lessons under the tuition of her own father, the brass virtuoso Paul Borg.

She also took Ballet and Jazz Dance Lessons, however singing was always her true passion.

At the age of 14, she took up her vocal studies with Mr. Joshua Alamu, a very well renowned vocal coach and instructor in the UK.

Martina's debut was with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra during the Orchestra Goes Pop concert, what eventually became the Rockestra.

She later was the resident female singer during a weekly programme on the National Maltese TV Channel.

Following this, she was constantly invited to sing or be interviewed on various TV channels and programmes.

Before setting off to London, Martina was the resident singer within her father's big band, the Versatile Brass. Together they showcased their outstanding talents during prestigious gigs for the President of Malta, the Minister for Tourism and Culture, and at the Vatican City for Pope Benedictus XVI, to name but a few occasions.

When she was 17, she moved to London to further her studies at the ACM (Academy of Contemporary Music), in Guildford. A year later, she achieved a Higher Diploma in Vocals, and later also read her Vocal Degree within the same ACM.

She has worked in collaboration with Tenishia, and other DJs from the Ministry of Sound in the UK.

While in the UK, she started developing her Songwriting and carried on improving her piano skills. In 2012 she became the main vocalist with several function bands.

Martina is inspired by artists such as Alicia Keys, Joss Stone, Keke Wyatt, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and many others ...all having jazz and soul in their music from which she derived some of her styles.

In 2013, she made London her home and professional base. Her debut release under this name appeared in December 2013. Rise is a house song by Youngheart featuring her voice. It was released on the Coast Music label

She has recently been signed to an independent label in the UK . Martina is happily stationed in the heart of London so she may fully concentrate on her singing career.

On February 13, 2013 Matina get into the UK Week Chart Top 30 with her first release – Rise.

Rise has broken into the Upfront Club Chart ahead of major acts like Beyoncé Ft Jay Z, David Guetta, London Grammar, Tinie Tempah and Disclosure Ft Mary J Blige. Matina and writers/producers Youngheart are the first two signings for new London label, Coast

With remixes by dance aces, Hoxton Whores, the track’s sultry groove and soaring vocal have received widespread support from UK and international DJs like Tim Cullen at Ministry, Erick Morrilo, Brandon Block, Tiesto, Mikey Gallagher and BTraits (BBC Radio 1).

The pop version of the track will be released on March 10, supported by video and radio promotion and coinciding with Matina’s four-week club and schools’ tour

Her follow-up single is due in spring 2014, with an album being launched later this year.
