The youngest of six sons of Paul and Inez Laus, who attended secondary school [[St Joseph]],   [[Paola]] and ended after the GCE examinations attended school craft the [[Marsa]] where made a course in electrician.

Music was always at heart, since Mario was still very young. He was a regular listener of [[Victor Aquilina]] on [[Rediffusion]] and also some foreign radio stations.


Mario was also part of a panel of five persons during a program '''''Diski fil-Vetrina''''' , where the panel would predict if the record is to be successful or not, like an English program that was known as ''Hit Or Miss''.
He took part in the programme [[Uri Ħiltek]] conducted by [[Charles Abela Mizzi]], and he won three times when answering questions related to music and sport.


He began to write on the disks on the [[L-Orizzont]] local newspaper at the age of 24 years and a few months later was the editor of the pages of a variety of two local newspapers, which lasted about 20 years. Mario was write about Maltese bands and singers as well as information on international artists aswell. Its history on '''Pop Music in the Sixty''', led him to start the career of DJ on [[Radio Malta]] transmitting shortly after it started in 1973.
Mario was also a part of a panel during the weekly programme [[Diski Fil-Vetrina]] (Record Shop Window) as an editor of the Music and Variety pages of [[l-Orizzont]]. This programme was also called by some as [[Hit Or Miss]].


Indeed, Mario was the first disc jockey in Malta as introduced programs of '''''Music of the Past''''' on Radio. That was and still among the most popular and favorite with radio listeners. He also created the class sold the most records in Malta with designate an of '''The Top 20 Malta'''.
He started writing about singers and music in general in 1967 and was the editor of two Music and Variety pages of l-Orizzont for 20 years. In 1975 Bimbo Jet issues a good hit El Bimbo, it was one of the favotite for Mario and was always  play it in every program, and from there he got the nickname ''Bimbo''.

He also introduced the top 20 in Malta – [[L-Aqwa 20 F'Malta]].  In 1975 Bimbo Jet released their hit single Bimbo Jet and Mario was nicknamed il-'''BIMBO''' after playing this record so many times!

Mario had another brother disc-jockey the known and popolar, who died  [[Vince Laus]] a Country Music expert and Malta was boosted to this genre of music when he was presenting his programs besides he got a fan club to of (The country Music, and even got [[Country Music Appreciation Society]]. Throughout his career Mario had occasion to meet with many singers, such as [[Shakin Stevens]], [[Orietta Berti]], [[Pupo]], and [[Gilda Giuliani]] among others. While [[The Beatles]], [[Gene Pitney]] and [[Simon & Garfunkel]] always remain his favorite.
Mario had another brother as a popular disc jockey. The late [[Vince Laus]] was an expert on country music and besides having Country music on [[One Radio]] and [[One TV]], he formed in Malta [[The Country Music Appreciation Society]].

Despite the time turn out and also equitment change, Mario should prefer that time of disc vinyl turntables and played one, and the other ready prepared, to, play, then today computer or hard drive list as just push the button, after all that is the work of disc jockey.
Although time changes and even today's technology is much easier than the old times, Mario still remembers and prefers the old times when records used to be plugged on air on vinyl and turntables.
 
Occasionally, Mario is invited on various TV stations but he always preferred presenting on the Radio. In April 2013, Mario celebrated his 40 years of broadcasting on [[Radju Malta]] only.
 
Mario's motto is to make people happy with a joke or two nut mainly by presenting radio programmes with music of the past.
 
Apart from music. Mario is a great supporter of Italian football team [[Juventus]]. He also likes travelling, reading and walking.
 
He has a son Simon Paul which he named after Paul Simon of Simon & Garfunkel, and a daughter called Melanie after the seventies international singer [[Melanie Safka]].
Before he retired on pension. Mario was a Customs Officer, although he always presented his musical programmes with great dedication.


Mario on television occasionally was been invited and also presented for a while, but  fortess remains the radio,  where it has always remained with the same station Radio Malta for more than 40 years.

Mario Laus

Mario Laus was born in San Ġiljan on 8th October 1947.
