Mario Laus

Mario Laus was born in St Julians on 8 October, 1947.

The youngest of six sons of Paul and Inez Laus, who attended secondary school St Joseph, Paola and ended after the GCE examinations attended school craft the Marsa where made a course in electrician.

Since he was a child has always been a lover of music and he was one of the listener to Victor Aquilina on Rediffusion and other foreign stations. Mario was write about Maltese bands and singers as well as information on international artists aswell. Its history on Pop Music in the Sixty, led him to start the career of DJ on Radio Malta transmitting shortly after it started in 1973.

Indeed, Mario was the first disc jockey in Malta as introduced programs of Music of the Past on Radio. That was and still among the most popular and favorite with radio listeners. He also created the class sold the most records in Malta with designate an of The Top 20 Malta.

In 1975 Bimbo Jet issues a good hit El Bimbo, it was one of the favotite for Mario and was always play it in every program, and from there he got the nickname Bimbo.

Among other program that Mario was presenting during his career of over forty years broadcasting as a disc jockey, are find Nagħżel Jien Antik vs Modern, Antenna, l-Oriġinali jew il-kopja, Mużika u Sport, Mużika ta’ Żmienijiet Oħra, Rokna tal-Fabbriki and Mill-Passat, always on Radio Malta.

Mario had another brother disc-jockey the known and popolar, who died Vince Laus a Country Music expert and Malta was boosted to this genre of music when he was presenting his programs besides he got a fan club to of (The country Music, and even got Country Music Appreciation Society. Throughout his career Mario had occasion to meet with many singers, such as Shakin Stevens, Orietta Berti, Pupo, and Gilda Giuliani among others. While The Beatles, Gene Pitney and Simon & Garfunkel always remain his favorite.
