Maria Lewis (born 5 December 1976) is a singer from Mosta, Malta.

Started singing at an early age in the Mosta local children’s church choir and was given solo parts. Took part for the first time in a singers’ festival and won 2nd place. Competed in several children’s contests and won 1st place in many of them. Maria and her sister Stephanie Lewis formed the duo Starbrights and were successful in many festivals winning ‘Best Singer’ awards in various pr oduction organisations. Took part in ‘Passaporto per Sanremo’, ‘Walt Disney Show’ in Rome and ‘Video Fantasy’ in Sicily.

1991 - 1995

As one of the duo Starbrights, she took part in the Malta Song for Europe twice and participated in numerous shows around the island. Entertained a wide variety of audiences, from weddings and parties to high conference events and corporate establishments. Again as part of ‘Starbrights’, Maria also presented various television and radio shows and released the first CD album ‘Jewel Box’.

1996 – 2002

Graduated in BA Music and Communication Studies. Together with her sister, she ran ‘The Starbrights School of Talent’, where she taught singing, theory of music, folk guitar and classical guitar. The duo Starbrights continued to participate in various shows around the island and released the CD singles ‘Someday Somewhere’ and ‘Gesu’. Also sang in various events overseas, namely in Tunes, England and Wales.

2003 – 2007

Went to London for 5 years. Together with her sister, she composed several original songs and after a few showcases they were chosen by an established production company in Liverpool Street, ‘Premises Studios’. Launched and released the 13 track CD compilation ‘Friends Forever’, which was also for sale in independent and established record shops in London. Performed in several clubs and pubs in and around London. Maria also participated in music events held in Thailand and Australia and took part in several radio shows.

2008 – 2011

Back in Malta Maria took part as a solo artist in various shows and interviews on local TV and radio stations, including ‘Illejla’, Xarabank and ‘Ħaddieħor’. Acted in various TV drama series such as ‘Mis-Siġill tal-Qrar’ and ‘Traceland’, as well as the cinematic production ‘Pawlu ta’ Tarsu’. Presented the children’s spot in the televised Maratona ‘Oħloq Tbissima’ and presented a weekly programme on Radju Marija. Wrote, prepared and recorded new material for her future solo releases.

2012 -

On the 7th January, Maria Lewis launched and released her debut solo CD single and music video Caccini’s Ave Maria. The song was featured as the opening track on Toni Sant's 309 Mużika Mod Ieħor podcast on Saturday 25 August 2012.

She is currently working on her CD album which will be a fusion of Celtic and classic pieces. Maria Lewis is enthusiastic about her performances in several public and private events.
