Maria Ellul

Maria Ellul, hails from Ħaż-Żabbar, Malta. Born on 31 May, 1997. She has been studying the saxophone since the age of twelve, when she started at the Maria Mater Gratea Band Club at her local village under the guidance of Mro. Raymond Sciberras. Subsequently, she continued her studies with Wallace Suda.

She is currently studying under the tutelage of Maltese saxophonist Joseph Vella whilst also attending lessons with Paris-based saxophonist Antonino Mollica.

In 2014, with the help of the Malta Arts Fund, she attended the Campus Internazionale di Sassofono in Sicily where she studied with world-renowned saxophonists Fabrizio Mancuso, Antonino Mollica, Mario Ciaccio, Pascal Bonnet and Frederico Alba. She has also attended masterclasses with saxophonists Hayrapet Arakelyan and Gilles Tressos, Sergey Kolesov and Lars Mlekusch.

Through the Malta Saxophone Festival, Maria was chosen and given the opportunity to perform with the well-known The Big Band Brothers. She has also performed with the Malta Youth Orchestra in the concert MYO Swings and also with the Malta Police Band in the trilogy concerts marking their 200 year anniversary.

Besides, Maria is currently studying economics at De La Salle Sixth Form and would like to progress her studies in European Studies and International Relations whilst furthering her studies in music on a higher level.
