Marcel Zammit Marmara’ B.A.; LIS: M.A. was born on March 27, 1959 and grew up in Valletta.

He studied at the Lyceum and obtained the degree of Bachelor from the University of Malta followed by training in pedagogy to become a teacher. Later, he also obtained a Masters degree where he did extensive research on Karmenu Vassallo, In 2012 he published the book Irrid u Ma Nistax: Il-Ħajja ta' Karmenu Vassallo. He is also a qualified Librarian from the University of Malta and in 2010 he was awarded the Librarian of the Year in schools.

He taught History in Government secondary schools. He currently teaches Literary criticism at the Advanced level in Higher Secondary School and coordinates the school library.

In addition to education, in his youth he held many positions in the field of tourism as a representative and guide (in English, German, French and Italian) with some of the leading travel agencies. He was sent to the Goethe Institut in Munich. for some years he worked in the United Kingdom where he visited many agents, and took part in travel fairs to promote Malta as a cultural and Mediterranean destination.

He loved the Theater and took part in many radio, television and stage productions. He is a member of leading associations in the fields of Archives and Libraries, History, Archeology, Literature, Maritime, and Environmental. In 1988 he was on the committee that worked hard for the Għaqda tal-Malti (University) to come back to life and to contribute to the re-issue of the magazine Leħen il-Malti and to erect the monument of the National Poet Dun Karm Psaila.
