Trivia

The event took place in Scotland because Monaco, the previous year's winner, didn't have the necessary television equipment and infrastructure to host a Eurovision broadcast. The UK's BBC is one of the founding organisers of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Helen's full name is Helen Micallef. Her brother Renato sang for Malta at the 1975 Eurovision Song Contest. Joseph is better known is Malta as Joe Cutajar. He was also a professional drummer.

1972 marked the third win for Luxembourg in 11 years, in an era when many songs had lyrics in French or in the native language of the country being represented.

In 2006, lyricist Albert Cassola's son Arnold Cassola became a member of parliament in Italy on Romano Prodi's L'Unione ticket.
