M3P Launch
Support & Collaboration
The project was launched during Notte Bianca: Lejl Imdawwal in Valletta, Malta on 25th September 2010, with an Inaugural Symposium and Networking Workshop at the St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity. The launch events included evening concert called You Rarely Hear This On the Radio! at Hastings Garden.
M3P was originally created as the Malta Music Memory Project in 2010, supported in part by the Malta Arts Fund of the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts and the University of Hull's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and School of Arts & New Media. Further support for the creation of the project was provided by the British Academy, Jisc, the National Archives of Malta, the Open Preservation Foundation, and the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector. In 2016 the M3P name moved beyond the idea of a music memory project to the Malta Media Memory Preservation initiative, stemming systematicall from the original project.

Academic Research
The M3P Foundation has also entered into formal collaboration agreements with the Malta Broadcasting Authority (since 2014) and Fondazzjoni Kreattivitá (since 2015). We also work very close with Malta's National Archives.
Academic research is an essential dimension of this project. The collaborative partners on this aspect of M3P are from the University of Hull (led by Dr Toni Sant from the School of Arts & New Media and supported by researchers Alex Grech and Tony Grimaud) and the University of Malta (Dr Ing Saviour Zammit from the Dept. of Communications & Computer Engineering and Dr Albert Bell from Youth & Community Studies). A position paper by Toni Sant appears in the current issue of the Journal of Music, Technology & Education. An academic conference is being planned to take place in Malta on 3-4 June 2011 to address this particular aspect of M3P. Support for this event is partially provided by the Malta Arts Fund of the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts.

Welcome to M3P: Malta Media Memory Preservation
a collaborative database of Maltese media and associated arts
currently holding memories on 4,876 pages contributed by 421 registered users

The main goal of the M3P is to provide an inclusive repository for memories of Malta's media and associated arts, ensuring that these are kept in posterity for current and future generations.

We're constantly rethinking what should be included or linked on the Main Page. Further suggestions and comments are very welcome on the M3P:Community Portal talk page.

Getting started

If you would like to know how to get started contributing or editing the M3P database and website have a look at this basic step by step guide to getting started, or the M3P Quickies in PDF format for quick and easy step-by-step on how to start creating and editing pages on M3P.

We're still working on developing our simple help documentation even further for users of this website who want to collaborate on this project. Also check out the M3P Policies section for some content guidelines - currently under heavy development. We've also constantly redesigning the M3P website to keep it as fit for purpose as possible. Meanwhile, please feel free to explore as you see fit.

If you're already a contributor or you're familiar with the way wikis work, you'll find ideas about what to do next and details about what other contributing users are doing on the M3P Community Portal.

Support & Collaboration

The M3P Foundation has also entered into formal collaboration agreements with the Malta Broadcasting Authority (since 2014) and Fondazzjoni Kreattivitá (since 2015). We also work very close with Malta's National Archives.
