Working Lists
I have compiled a list of over five hundred Maltese tracks that were released in 45rpm vinyl in the Sixties and Seventies and have already scanned images of the cover sleeves. I think that the M3P needs a section where were can have a working list specifically reserved for vinyl considering that this a definite amount released in Malta between the early Sixties and the late Eighties.
We need to think about how we can have a working list that is updated. Priority should be given to the label and matrix numbers, since numbers for the larger Maltese labels were consecutive.--Steve Borg (talk) 12:11, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
:Steve, I've just created the space for this working list for Vinyl Records from Malta. Feel free to start adding to it as you see fit, but keep in mind that any long lists should ideally be in sortable tables. I can set up a basic template for this for you, or if you prefer, you can simply create your list in a Word table or excel spread sheet and we can then import it through something like WikEd. --Toni Sant (talk) 12:21, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

Welcome

  • We need to rethink how to welcome new users. An automated welcome message on people user talk page is probably a good way to handle this, plus an email to the address associated with the individual's account. I'm listing this on the M3P:To Do list now so we can act on it in due course, if not urgently. --Toni Sant (talk) 17:00, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
  • One thing we should possibly consider is the use of Twinkle, which I've just discovered through my active engagement with Wikipedia. It seems that Twinkle helped generate the glorious welcome message you can see on my Wikipedia User Page. On closer exploration, this sort of thing is apparently generated by an extension called New User Message. --Toni Sant (talk) 18:36, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
  • I'm also thinking that we should encourage the use of the helpme tag at the bottom of user's talk pages with questions below it, once we figure out how it works. --Toni Sant (talk) 16:57, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
    • I'm just fiddling with a problem template. It's not quite working correctly yet but it is ongoing Stephensd (talk) 10:02, 31 August 2012 (EDT)

Semantic Forms

We should start considering the benefits of using Semantic Forms. --Toni Sant (talk) 09:01, 11 October 2012 (EDT)

New User Engagement

At present, the majority of the main contributors are ppl from the rock/pop scene. Other local music scenes include: Jazz, għana, classical, opera, pantomime, sacred music...

How do we go about tapping into their circles and convince the main players in the relevant group to become active contributors to M3P? IDEAS:

more awareness - media: write-ups, interviews, a 'physical' local link that ppl can contact.
devise some activities/novelties/experiments/experiences to make ppl aware of the work of M3P and entice them to contribute, then look at the outcome to see if/how they worked.

This is definitely a step in the right direction. Thanks for getting us started! Ideally we should proceed with a systematic strategy asap. You've already pointed to three aspects of this systematic strategy, so we should probably keep building on this:
  1. User-base matters: Identifying who is actually already contributing and/or potentially contributing (i.e. low-use registered users) -- there may be extensions to help us do this, such as the ones listed here
  2. Media relations: Mike Bugeja and Noel D'Anastas had already started helping out with this. Alex Grech was thinking about using social media networks more too.
  3. Events/activities: M3P Jiltaqa' Ma'... is one idea in this direction. The M3P:Inaugural Conference is another. We probably need to think a little more long-term and possibly even in terms of more activities other than these.
Perhaps Tuesday's meeting with Alex and Mike is a good place to pick this up. It's already (almost) on the agenda anyway. --Toni Sant (talk) 17:05, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

Steve, I've just created the space for this working list for Vinyl Records from Malta.
