As 12 countries had to qualify for the following year's edition according to the placing, Malta did not need to go through the semi-final in Ukraine in May 2005.

Ludwig Galea

Ludwig Galea (born 26 November 1977) is a local singer / pop tenor.

He received his early musical and vocal instructions under his uncle, former Maestro Di Cappella of St. John’s Co Cathedral Rev. Alberto Borg OSA.

After performing as a backing vocal in local festivals, Ludwig took part in Joe Brown and Joe Julian Farrugia's musical Diana; Queen of Hearts. His first appearance as a solo singer came in the year 2000 at Fresh; Festival for Youths 2000 wherein he placed third with a song which he himself composed entitled 'All you ever need'.

In 2012 Ludwig was knighted by the Sovereign Hospitallier Order of St John of Jerusalem.
