Launching of the festival
L-Għanja tal-Poplu (2022) 46 Edition. A strong partecipation for the 46th edition of The People's Anthem. The 46th edition of L-Għanja tal-Poplu – a festival of songs in Maltese, will be held at Pjazza Teatru Rjal, Valletta on Saturday 30th July 2022 with the participation of the Malta Concert Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Paul Abela. Submissions for this festival can be sent online from Friday 25 February till Friday18 March 2022 and the finalists will be announced by the 24th April. Authors, composers, music bands, singers and singer-songwriters are invited to participate in this popular festival with songs addressed to the Maltese public.

For the eliminatory phase of the 46 Edition of l-Għanja tal-Poplu - Festival tal-Kanzunetta Maltija, entered the Malta Song 131 song. 40 of them have passed to the semi-finals. The 40 Songs who passed for the the Semi-Final in Alfabetikal order are:-

The second phase of the selection is the semifinals, when the singers will sing their songs live with recorded accompaniment.
The semifinals of the People's Song 2022 festival were held in the Friggieri Hall inside the Valletta Design Cluster. Jury members listened to 40 songs sung live and selected from 131 songs submitted for this edition.

The Festival Night the Running Order Finalist Songs
On Saturday 30 July, 2022, the L-Għanja tal-Poplu 2022. They are in alphabetical order.
Information
The final evening of L-Għanja tal-Poplu 2022 will take place on Saturday 30 July at Pjazza Teatru Rjal with the participation of the Malta Concert Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Paul Abela.
The sixteen finalist songs were selected from 131 songs entered for this edition.
The jury this year will be composed of a popular jury as well as an expert jury. Special prizes will be decided by an expert jury.
From this year, the award for best performance will be called the Enzo Gusman Award for Best Performance. Ms. Carmen Gusman met with the members of the committee and was very happy with this decision and expressed the wish that this award will continue to be given every year.
During July the song videos of the songs will start appearing on television and on social media and Youtube. In addition, the songs will be published on Spotify, Itunes and other music platforms.
Tony Camilleri (l-Għannej) will be the special guest and Valerie Vella will be presenting this evening inside Pjazza Teatru Rjal.
Comperes
This year festival comperes will be the Actor Presenter Valerie Vella.

This festival is organized by the voluntary organization L-Għanja tal-Poplu in collaboration with the Malta Concert Orchestra and Pjazza Teatru Rjal. Special guests
The special guest this year, was the winner of the 2021 edition Sean Borg who sing the 2021 winning song, Fuq l-Ixkaffa.
