The 31st edition of L-Għanja tal-Poplu was held on Saturday 13 May 2006, transmitted live on PBS as part of television programm Showtime.

The second edition of the Youth and Adolescents category was held at the Salesian Theatre in Sliema and broadcast live on PBS.

Tickets at Lm6.50c were available from the Y.T.C. 227 Merchants' Street, Valletta. A double cd with the finalist songs in both categories was also for sale from the Youth Travel Centre Office an from records shops.
