Jessica Magro

Jessica Magro was born on 5 February 1990 at Tal-Pieta at St Luke’s Hospital and raised at Ħaż-Żebbuġ. Jessica Magro is a Singer.

She was educated at St.Francis School at Sliema for both her Primary and Secondary Education, after which she attended at Junior College. Jessica set for her A levels in 2008 and her subjects were: Accounts & Marketing and Intermediate subjects: Maths, English, I.T, & Systems of Knowledge. From there, she attended University of Malta and read for a Bachelor Honours Degree in Insurance & Finance. Jessica graduated in 2012.

After graduating she started a Masters qualification with ICAEW which is ACA (Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales) and at the same time working as an Auditor with Ernst & Young (EY).

Jessica started taking singing lessons at the age of 12 with Doreen Galea. She started participating in small local festivals from which she gained experience whilst singing live. From there, Jessica joined the choir of Dominic Galea and Alison Ellul. Furthermore, attended 2 years of Stagecoach from 2004 till 2006.

Jessica participated in several Festivals and music programmes like Għanja tal-Poplu – Żgħażagħ 2005 1st edition and finished in 3 place with the song Tolleranza music by Andrew Zammit and lyrics by Keith Zammit, taken part in Star to ‘b’ 2004 a festival held in Baystreet in which she placed second. She was also backing vocals in Junior Eurovision 2004 in Dario Bezzina and Grecia Bezzina song Evviva il-Muzika. Performed in two Musicals, Sound of Music and Filippu.

Participated in GM Productions singing festivals in 2004, 2005, 2006 in which she placed, first, second and first again respectively. Participated in Epoka Festival in 2006 in which she placed first. Took Part in the second addition of Opportunity 2, Participated in Malta Hit Song Festival 2009, and in another Tv show Don’t Stop me Now in 2010.

Have been going to singing lessons at The Vocal Booth and her singing teacher Pamela Bezzina, since June 2013, Participated in Voices Heart & Soul as part of the choir, Obtained Distinction in Trinity College Rock & Pop Exam Grade 3,

Jessica got experience abroad, when she took part in festival Tralcio D’Oro 2003 that was held in Bari, Italy, and at present she is preparing for another experience on 7 August, 2015 will be participate in OltreOceano Festival as a finalist, with the song Almeno tu nell’ Universo.

Jessica is one of the 10 semi-finalists of Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza 2015 in the section "New Talent" with the song "Iċ-Ċinju" penned by Mark Scicluna and Clifton Casha. From this section 3 finalists are going to be chosen to participate in the final night of the Competition.
