James Vella Clark (b 1975 - ) is an artist from Malta, mainly concerned into using the landscape and the expressionist idiom in a way that mainly portrays his own personal human emotion.

He was introduced to drawing classes at the age of 6 but then became mostly self-taught. In 2001 he hosted his first solo exhibition which consisted of a set of landscapes that lent mostly from the expressionist movement. This was the starting point to a career that has seen the artist exploring the traits in the Maltese landscape, turning such traits into representational vehicles that reflect the personal human experience. "My landscapes are not only visual representations of real or imagined places that inspire me but become representative of the everyday human condition. My abstract work on the other hand, is an exercise in manifesting the spontaneity of my character becoming almost like therapy - where that which is controlled and calculated makes way for a free and uncontrolled expression.”
