Clean-up Needed

The text currently on this page needs further work. It was most likely imported or reproduced from a website associated with the subject of the page - possibly through a process involving far-from-perfect machine translation, often with awkward results. It is awaiting the attention of an experienced M3P editor, which could be you. It may be slightly out of date, or may need other elements taken care of appropriately, including proofreading or copy-editing for grammar and style.

Ingrid Vella

Ingrid Vella was born in Pietà on 1 June 1988, and lives in Gudja. She is an electrical engineer, and is currently undertaking a PhD in Physics. She feels that the arts complement her science-oriented life, and in her free time she dances, writes blogs, poems, and she still keeps a diary!

She has been writing poems in Maltese and English since 1999, and in 2014 she started writing lyrics. Ingrid cherishes and writes mostly in Maltese, feeling that no language can help her better express herself.

In 2014, she wrote her first song, Jien Għandi Kollox, composed by Augusto Cardinali, and sung by Thea Gauci. Jien Għandi Kollox competed in the first edition of Konkors Melodija Maġika 2015. It was the winning song of Section B, and was the Grand Prix winner of the whole festival. Ingrid’s second song, Pjan, composed by Augusto Cardinali, and sung by Simone Gauci, is a finalist in the 39th Edition of L-Għanja tal-Poplu 2015.

Ingrid considers herself to be adventurous not only in life, but also in her thoughts and poems. She considers herself to be open-minded, and puts herself in other people’s shoes, for a brief time living their story, in order to write about experiences that she has not been through. She says that even though she doesn’t directly relate to all her songs, at some point while writing them, she would have experienced the feelings that her poems and lyrics portray.

Ingrid enjoys travelling and experiencing other cultures. She likens every culture that she gets to experience, to another angle from which to observe life. Should there be one thing that no one can snatch away from you, that will surely be your knowledge. And you learn most by doing, by experiencing, by putting yourself out there, making your own mistakes, exchanging ideas with people whose backgrounds and ideas are totally different from yours, challenging your own thoughts and by then being humble enough to mould your thoughts as life teaches you.

Her hopes for the future are to keep being present in the present. However, she acknowledges that she cannot fulfil all her wishes in the present, and this is why she keeps a bucketlist. She did not disclose any of her bucketlist wishes.
