Candy Lopez Performance

This performance centers around the online adventures of a fictitious character called 'Candy Lopez, who establishes a Facebook profile with the (almost) solo intention of playing the digital game Knighthood. Instead she ends up playing with gender identity, sexual fantasists, social network politics, gullibility, disposable attention, electronic junk marketing and boredom.

Candy Lopez is a fictional character in a duration digital performance. What remains from this digital performance are digital images and notes that constitute fragments of the performance. Candy Lopez Facebook profile is still live online, but it has not been update since 2013. Nevertheless Candy Lopez continues to receive birthday wishes on Facebook on the first day of January every year.


Plot: a (fictional) character plays an online game recruiting real Facebook users to gain points within the game and gather virtual goods that can be given to any other Facebook user at will.
Character: Candy Lopez exists (almost) entirely to support the plot.
Theme: (hidden) gender bending in online role-playing games, particular with 2D avatars in social media.
