Clean-up Needed

The text currently on this page needs further work. It was most likely imported or reproduced from a website associated with the subject of the page - possibly through a process involving far-from-perfect machine translation, often with awkward results. It is awaiting the attention of an experienced M3P editor, which could be you. It may be slightly out of date, or may need other elements taken care of appropriately, including proofreading or copy-editing for grammar and style.

Djun is a Maltese language pop/alternative rock band formed in 2017 by Charles Cassar and Mark "Zizza" Abela, long time friends who had previously played together with funk band Zizza Ensemble and classic rock band Fire.

Charles Cassar (bass) and Mark Abela (drums) were soon joined by Justin Galea (vocals), Ryen Refalo (Guitar), and Paul Torpiano (keyboards).

The Band debuted in November 2017 with an intimate gig at Valletta jazz club Offbeat. Mark Abela eventually amicably parted ways with the group in 2018 to focus on his primary project "Brodu", with Michael Vella Zarb joining the band as its new drummer in February 2018.

Djun turned their attention to recording their debut album "Il-Ħlas", a collection of songs linked thematically with shared concerns of loss, endings and the passage of time.

The album was recorded at Temple Studios and is planned for release in June 2019. The album's first single, the moody and mysterious "Il-Bir", was released in May 2019. Accompanying Vinyl cover art was designed by award winning illustration Julian Mallia.
