Clifford Borg is a Maltese pianist. He has performed with groups as well as a solo artist and has to date released two albums, Drifted in 2000 and Origin in 2009.

History

Clifford Borg was born into a musical family on May 11, 1976. By the age of 5, Clifford had already begun piano lessons. Within a year, he had teamed up with his father and two sisters, entertaining the patrons of their family restaurant. The positive reception led them to go on to form The Islanders, a band that played in hotels and clubs all over the Maltese Islands.

At the age of 10, Borg gave a live solo performance on Maltese National television, with a repertoire that included Fur Elise, Moonlight Sonata and Ballad pour Adeline. A year later returned to television with The Islanders. The furtherance of his musical studies led him to obtain his diploma in piano practical and theory (ALCM), by the age of 18, when he also started composing. Longing Dawn was the culmination of work between 1995-97, during which time Clifford belonged to the band Orion, playing the keyboards. Longing Dawn placed 7th in Malta`s most prestigious song festival.

Following the dissolution of Orion, Clifford engaged himself into serious composition work, and in March 2000, released Drifted, his first solo piano album containing twelve piano-based tracks composed and performed by Borg himself. He also collaborated with other artists like Chiara. One of the numbers, Hoping, was then re-mixed as an ambient dance track and it was the third most played and requested track from local artists on Capital Radio.

Clifford gave a number of concerts in Malta and in Europe including United Kingdom (London), The Netherlands (Amsterdam), Brussels (Belgium), Germany (Koblenz and Vreden) and several concerts in his country (Malta). He also performed outside Europe in Elgouna (Egypt).

Clifford`s performances have been well received and well reviewed by critics. He will be recording new material this year in Brussels.
