Is-Surmast Carmelo Schembri twieled il-Ħamrun nħar it-13 ta’ Jannar 1930 f’ familja kbira ta’ mużiċisti. Hu beda l-istudju fil-mużika ta’ eta’ żgħira u kompla taħt is-Surmast Carmelo Pace.

Kien l-iżgħar mużiċist li kien iddoqq ma’ baned magħrufa ta’ dak iż-żmien taħt Oscar Lucas u Jimmy Dowling.

Bħala Mużiċist, Schembri kien jagħmel parti ukoll mill-orkestra Kap Kmandant Ingliż.

Fl-1972 huwa għaqqad il-banda bit-tfal ta’ l-iskejjel ta’ l-Istat. Din il-banda kient tieħu sehem f’ħafna kunċerti fi bliet u rħula Maltin fejn ħadet sehem ukoll għal l-ewwel darba fil-karnival. L-Għaqda Każini tal-Banda ukoll stiednet lis-Surmast Carmelo Schembri biex immexxi l-Orkestra Nazzjonali taż-Żagħażagħ. Ħadem ukoll fuq xogħol kulturali u televiżiv.

Carmelo Schembri għamel perjodu assistant Surmast mas-Soċjeta Mużikali San Ġużepp Ħamrun u bejn 1981 u 1986 kien Surmast mal-Għaqda Mużikali Mount Carmel Gżira

Carmello Schembri kellu żewġ ulied il-pjanist Surmast Brain Schembri u l-akkademiku ta’ l-Arti Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci u l-kitarrista Simon Scehmbri. .

Mro. Carmelo Schembri miet nhar l-20 ta’ Novembru 2018 fl-età ta’ 88. Il quddiesa præsente cadavere saret fil-Knisja ta’ San Gejtanu l-Ħamrun
