Bradley Cachia

Bradley Cachia is a singer, actor and musical theatre performer from San Ġwann. He was born on the 2 January 2004 and is currently a student at St Aloysius’ College, Birkirkara.

Bradley has always had a passion for music. At one point, he thought he should develop his potential in singing and, so, at the age of 10, he started studying voice. He currently studies voice with Nadia Vella at Masquerade School for the Performing Arts.

He has taken, and still takes, music theory examinations (London College of Music) and classical singing examinations (Trinity College of London), never failing to get excellent marks.

On the 22 March 2015, Bradley performed for the first time in front of an audience during a singing festival in which he placed 2nd in his category. This encouraged him to enter more singing festivals. From those festivals, he started to gain experience on stage and began to feel more comfortable performing in front of people. Bradley has also competed in festivals with foreigners and has also been invited to singing festivals abroad.

Besides these festivals, Bradley has performed in various concerts, both as a soloist as well as with choirs and groups. He has been part of the BOV Joseph Calleja Children’s Choir and part of the choir in 2 of Spiteri Lucas Entertainment’s annual concerts. He has also appeared on television several times with appearances ranging from singing performances to discussion programmes.

Apart from singing, Bradley also studies music theory and the euphonium with St Joseph’s Band Club, Ħamrun.

In 2016, he was cast in Grapevine Music’s production of The Sound of Music, performed at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta in October 2016 and later on, due to pupular demand, in April 2017. He was cast as one of the famous seven children in the story, Friedrich von Trapp. This was Bradley’s first experience in musical theatre and his first experience singing with a live orchestra, under the direction of the well-renowned Mro. Paul Abela. The musical was artistically directed by Ray Mangion.

From then on, Bradley’s love for musical theatre grew and, so, he decided to focus more on it. After playing Friedrich in The Sound of Music, Bradley was cast in the 2017 production of The Phantom of the Opera as an ensemble member. This musical was also produced by Grapevine Music, directed by Ray Mangion and musically directed by Mro Paul Abela.

In 2018, Bradley was cast in Cats – The Musical as Skimbleshanks. The musical was performed throughout all of February 2019. Cats was produced by Hoi Polloi, under the artistic direction of Marco Calleja, musical direction of Mro. Brian Cefai and with choreography by Marisha Bonnici. This was Bradley’s first role in a production playing a non-human character as all the characters in the musical are cats.

Apart from musical theatre, Bradley has also been cast in plays, his first professional one being iLand, a devised and site-specific piece of promenade theatre performed in October 2018 during the annual ŻiguŻajg International Arts Festival for Children and Young People. The venue of the play was not a stage but the vaults of the Auberge de Castille. This made it possible to make the piece a promenade and site-specific one. The process of creating the story was a year-long one. The actors in the project also had the chance to work with Paul Edwards, a British director, actor and educator who has worked with artists from all around the globe.

In March 2019, Bradley, along with a group of classmates (David Camilleri, Jordan Muscat and Jaime Gilson) formed a band called Mystic Apes. After working a couple of times, they thought it would be a good idea if they could attempt to build their musical careers together and, hence, Mystic Apes was born.

Some of the highlights in Bradley’s career were performing in front of the Former President of the Republic of Malta H.E. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca and her husband and sharing the stage with Andrea Bocelli along with the BOV Joseph Calleja Children’s Choir in the Maltese tenor’s 20th anniversary concert on the Granaries (St Publius’ Square) in Floriana. Bradley has also performed with well-known artists in the Maltese music scene including Ira Losco, Ivan Borg (bassist for Red Electrick) and Luke Grech (guitarist for Relikc / Big Band Brothers).

In his free time, Bradley enjoys writing poems and has also had some of his works featured by sites like Lovin Malta and Newsbook. He is also a writer for the student-organisation A Bird’s Eye View. His greatest wish is to pursue a career in music and theatre and maybe even study musical theatre abroad.
