Clean-up Needed

The text currently on this page needs further work. It was most likely imported or reproduced from a website associated with the subject of the page - possibly through a process involving far-from-perfect machine translation, often with awkward results. It is awaiting the attention of an experienced M3P editor, which could be you. It may be slightly out of date, or may need other elements taken care of appropriately, including proofreading or copy-editing for grammar and style.

Mgr. Annetto Depasquale was born in Qormi on June 28, 1938.

He received his primary education at St Joseph School Valletta and his secondary education at the Lyceum. He continued his studies at the University of Malta and the Pontifical University at the Lateran, where he graduated in Canon Law and Pastoral Theology. He was ordained priest on the 7th June 1962 and carried out pastoral duties with the Church Commission for Children's Homes, the Pastoral Research Services, besides assisting in the parish of St George in Ħal-Qormi and the English speaking community in Malta. He taught Canon Law in the Faculties of Theology and Laws of the University of Malta.

He became Chancellor on 6th August 1977 and Pastoral Secretary on 14th April 1986.

On 9th January 1989 he was appointed Vicar General and on 16th November 1998 His Holiness the Pope nominated him Titular Bishop of Aradi and Auxiliary Bishop of Malta.

His episcopal ordination took place on January 2, 1999.

Once viewed as a possible successor to Mgr Giuseppi Mercieca, Mgr Depasquale suffered serious ill health which kept him away from his duties for several months. Although he eventually returned to duty, he never fully recovered.

He died on November 29, 2011 at his home in Qormi.
