Mro.Andrea Cassar

Mro.Andrea Cassar born on 6 October, 1996. He is a musician, conductor and educator from Ħal-Lija.

He started his musical education with his hometown's band club St.Pio X Band Club, Lija by studying the flute, the piccolo musical theory under the direction of Mro.Reno Busuttil and later on with Mro.Silvio Zammit and Mro. Manoel Pirotta.

In the present, Andrea is the choir director of his hometown's parish choir and orchestra (Kor Tabor), assistant band director and music theory teacher at St.Pio X Band Club Lija, Assistant Musical Director and Music Theory teacher at La Vittoria Band Club Mellieħa, flute and music theory teacher at Banda Vittoria Naxxar, Primary music teacher at Banda Marija Mtellgħa s-Sema', Mġarr, Music theory teacher at St.Leonard Band Club of Ħal-Kirkop, flute and music theory at The Lodge Creativity Hub and guest conductor of the Malta Wind Orchestra.

Andrea is also a qualified Primary teacher and is currently teaching Year 4 students at Saint Venera Primary School-Saint Theresa College.

In these lastbfew years, Andrea wrote and worked on various educational projects with Tikka Banda and V18 to promote the traditional Maltese Band in schools and beyond. Such examples are "barra l-klassi" and "ĠAĦAN18".

Recently, he entered in the local musical scenario with an original song called "Kull Demi Ħudu b'Ġid". For this song, which is one of the Għanja tal-Poplu Żgħażagh 2019's finalists, Cassar wrote both the music and the lyrics.
