Alfred E.Baldacchino


Alfred E. Baldacchino born in Ir-Rabat, Malta on 20 April 1946.

Studied at the Lyceum, Il-Ħamrun; Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology; St. Michael’s Teachers Training College of Education from where graduated as a teacher in (1972); University of Malta: Diploma in Environmental Science (1988); Diploma in Public Administration (1993); Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Management (1994); M.Sc. (Environment Management and Planning (1995).

From 1974 to 1986 was the General Secretary of the Malta Ornithological Society. Coordinated and adapted television programmes, mainly In-Nisġa tan-Natura, and presented and produced Appuntamenti man-Natura on the radio.

Published a number of popular works on nature and the need for its protection. Editor of the magazine In-Natura from 1982 up to 2003.

In the early 70’s was detailed with the Environment Protection Department. Responsible for screening and transposition of the biodiversity acquis, prior to Malta’s accession to the European Union in 2004.

Appointed assistant Director responsible for the protection of Biodiversity in the Environment Protection Directorate, within the Malta Environment and Planning Authority, until retirement in 2007.

With the Same Song Come Fly With Me Corazon Mizzi finished third place in the Univers Song Festival, Tenerife 2011.
