Albert M.Cassola born in Valletta, the capital City of Malta, on 2 May, 1915. He was an Author.
He attended at St Joseph High School and the Lyceum and follows courses at the Universita Degli Studi at Milan, the Universita per Stranieri, Perugia and at the Centro Culturale di Coordinazione Internazionale, Rome.
He also followed a course in philosophy and pedagogy at the Academia, Turin and a course in Italian and English in London. In 1953 he was elected fellow of the Institute of Linguists (London).
He was awarded the Medaglia Culturale di Bronzo by the Italian Minister of foreign affairs (1953) and the insignia of Cavaliere Ufficiale dell’Ordine Al Merito Della della Repubblica Italiana (1969).
Albert M.Cassola started his career as master of Italian and Maltese at The Lyceum. He also lectured in Italian at the [[MCAST}} and served as Assistant Headmaster of the Sixth Form. He was Chief examiner in Italian for the British Army In Malta and for the civil Service.
In 1966 Cassola was awared the Permio Colosseo (Rome) and in 1969 the Premio degli Immortali d’Italia (Messina) – both for Italian prose.
He was also the literary editor of Il-Qawmien, and from 1929 till his death he contributed works to various Maltese, Italian and English publications. He was awarded the Malta Literaary Prize posthumously in 1976 for It-Tfalja bil-Fur Fuq Sidirha. He was also awared the Inez Soler Trophy for the best original Maltese play by the Malta Drama League in 1951.
Some of his writings carried the pen-names C.Mertols and Carlo Tasso.

Albert M.Cassola was married to Ethel Marks and had a son the well known Arnold Cassola the Leader involved with Arternativa Demokratika. He passed away on 23 June, 1974.
