Żejtun is a fairly sized town of fourteen thousand people in south-eastern Malta.

Żejtun's coat of arms.

It is the mecca of Maltese folk singing. In the heydays of the 1960s, għana heavyweights hailing from Żejtun included Pawlu Seychell l-Għannej, Pawlu Degabriele l-Bies, Mikiel Abela l-Bambinu and Żaren Mifsud ta' Vestru.

Folksinging is held regularly throughout the year in three local outlets, Trust Pub, Ta' Ġanna Bar and the Partit Laburista bar, whereas in summer two events are held at the Żejtun Boċċi Club and Ġnien San Girgor, the latter organized by the Żejtun local council.
