Clean-up Needed

The text currently on this page needs further work. It was most likely imported or reproduced from a website associated with the subject of the page - possibly through a process involving far-from-perfect machine translation, often with awkward results. It is awaiting the attention of an experienced M3P editor, which could be you. It may be slightly out of date, or may need other elements taken care of appropriately, including proofreading or copy-editing for grammar and style.

The village of Ħal Tarxien is situated in the southern part of Malta and is considered as one of the ancient habitable villages. The name Tarxien is derived from the word tirxa which means a rock.

This village have been in existance since 4000 years ago and according to archeologists the Neolithic Temples were used as sacred place where the inhabitants worshipped the Woman of Fertility. Ħal Tarxien is known as the place where excavations of historical sites are carried out.

The present population has reached about 9000. Till the year 1960 the residents earned their living primarily from agriculture, especially selling goats' milk. Nowadays this is past history and a very few work in agriculture as their daily earnings.
