	On Thursday 15 January 2015, Dr [[Toni Sant]], Artistic Director of the [[St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity]], launched the 39th edition of L-Għanja tal-Poplu which will be held on Saturday 21 March 2015 in [[Sir Temi Zammit Theatre]] at the [[University of Malta]]. Dr Sant said that the Centre for Creativity will start working with the organizing committee of L-Għanja tal-Poplu so that the Festival continues to flourish for the benefit of the Maltese song. 	[[Valletta 2018 Foundation]] Chairman Mr [[Jason Micallef]] attended the occasion and announced that L-Għanja tal-Poplu will be an integral part of the activities of Valletta 2018. Moreover, as Chairman of [[One]], he said it is to his great satisfaction that for the past previous years, the festival was transmitted live on One ~~Television~~, although he believes such an event should have a place on the national station.
