'''Arthur Podesta''' was an exceptionally well-known figure in waterpolo, swimming and sailing circuits.

Born on 27 December 1928, Podesta was the winner of many honours and protagonist of countless local sporting contests as the ever faithful [[Neptunes]] stalwart.

He will perhaps be best remembered as a member of Malta's waterpolo team during the 1936 [[Berlin Olympic Games]]. He was the last surviving member of that squad, which also included his brother Wilfred. During that Olympics Malta played Britain (2-8), gold-medalists Hungary (0-12) and Yugoslavia (0-7).
