In memory of Miriam Spiteri 10/12/1958 - 14/07/2011 Miriam was one of the first Female Rock singers in Malta. She started her career at a very young age and represented Malta in the Zecchino D'oro in Italy in 1965.After she had a band together with her brother and played in various local festivals and receptions. In 1982 Miriam had a brief spell with Rock Band 'VHF' which included Laurence Baldachino-'12thODE'-(today) on drums. The best years of her singing was when she formed part of the Rock Band 'OVERDOZE' in 1982 & '83. 'OVERDOZE' where Vocals-Miriam,Guitars-Andrew Zammit & Charles Fenech-'Spyder',Bass-Stephen Spiteri & Drums-Joseph Buttigieg-'Buttons'. During that period 'OVERDOZE' formed part of 'ROCKARIA' in Tigne' and performed, together with other bands such as B3,Riffs,Export,Acid,Fluid,Abstrass and many more, in various occasions at the Chapel in Tigne'. 'ROCKARIA' was coordinated and managed by Mr.Philip Pace from the Ministry of Culture of that time and formed part of A.S.T. in Tigne'. Unfortunately in 1984 Miriam had an almost fatal accident which left her with a spinal injury. But in 1988 Miriam came back with a new formed Band 'The FLIES' for her one last public appearance during the Maltafest Rock'88 which was presented by Alfie Fabri. 'The FLIES' where Vocals-Miriam,Guitar-John Gafa'(ex B3), Bass-Stephen Spiteri(ex-Overdoze) & Drums-Joseph Buttigieg-'Buttons'(ex-Overdoze). This track is part of a live cassette recording of that Maltafest Rock'88 and was recorded by Mr.John Vella Zarb who provided the sound and P.A. system for that concert.
